    Brande Thompson is the visionary founder and dedicated Clinical Director of Cultivate Wellness Counseling. Holding the esteemed designation of an approved LGPC supervisor in the state of Maryland, she brings an impressive wealth of experience and expertise to the field of mental health and counseling. Over the course of her career spanning six years, Brande has been unwavering in her commitment to serving the community, leaving an indelible impact in various treatment settings, including community-based, school-based, and private practice.

    In her role as the Clinical Director of Cultivate Wellness Counseling, Brande occupies a pivotal position within the organization. Her leadership is instrumental in defining the vision and mission of the practice, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of providing high-quality mental health services. Brande's extensive experience and passion for her work enable her to foster an environment that is not only therapeutic but also deeply supportive. Her hands-on approach empowers clients and clinicians to recognize the strength they already possess, enabling them to take charge and facilitate positive change in their lives.

  • Brittany Johnson, LCPC

    ASSISTANT CLINICAL DIRECTOR

    Brittany Johnson is a licensed clinical professional counselor. She is a Clinically trained Psychotherapist, Strategist, and Thought Leader with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She specializes in helping Black women become their most confident, authentic, healthiest selves.

    In addition to being an expert in mental health, Brittany has an abundance of experience in public speaking; community engagement; organizing; and advocacy. Prior to her work as a licensed clinician, she supported curriculum development for university-level psychology coursework; facilitated project management and coordination of a domestic violence and sexual assault reduction initiative; served as a board member to varying high school mentorship programs; and implemented strategic planning for engaging college students in mental health services available on campus under the Department of Justice.

    Brittany is proud to support Cultivate Wellness Counseling as Assistant Clinical Director and is looking forward to supporting current and future clients on their therapeutic journey.

    CLINICIAN

    Abby is a licensed clinical professional counselor who uses an eclectic approach to counseling rooted in a cognitive behavioral therapy framework, individualizing treatment based on the needs of each person. She utilizes motivational interviewing,person-centered counseling, and a strengths-based approach to help every person feel strong, adaptive, and resilient.

    Abby creates a safe, nurturing, and accepting space to strengthen mental, social, and emotional wellness, and to assist one in navigating life’s challenges.

  • Andrea Oliver, LGPC

    CLINICIAN

    Andrea is a licensed graduate professional counselor who incorporates the psychodynamic approach, along with CBT, ACT, Solution-focused, Person-centered, and Existential philosophies, Mindfulness is at the crux of her therapeutic leanings with an overall holistic approach to mind, body, and soul wellness.

    Ultimately the modality that she selects depends on the needs of her clients. She strongly believes it is her job to meet her clients where they are and to guide them toward the path that leads to healing, growth, discovery, and self-actualization.

  • Denise Matthews, LGPC

    CLINICIAN

    Denise is a licensed graduate professional counselor with a long-time passion and extensive experience working with adult women who have experienced trauma; helping them to heal from those traumas and improve their feelings of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-worth, and self-acceptance.

    Denise has organized a series of seasonal therapeutic writing workshops for women beginning in 2017. Through those workshops, she curated a space for healing through mindfulness, transparency, and writing. During my workshops, we broached topics of healing, relationships, trauma, grief, and love.

  • Shawntae Chase, LMSW

    Shawntae is a licensed master social worker who graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor's in Social Work in 2006 and began work with children and their families. Her love for working with these families, and seeing transformation take place fueled her desire to further enhance her skills and led to Shawntae pursuing her graduate degree of a Masters in Social Work at East Carolina University in 2010. Since graduation, she has worked with a myriad of client populations but especially enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, parents, and women navigating life transitions, relationship struggles, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

    “We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can be healed in relationships” -Harville Hendrix. Shawntae finds great value in the therapeutic relationship developed with clients and finds it central to the work that she does.

    Shawntae’s clinical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Bibliotherapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Shawntae is also a Certified Trauma Professional.

    Kyeana is renowned for her captivating and vibrant personality, consistently embracing her true self. She exudes empathy and compassion, creating a safe and nurturing space for others to feel loved, understood, and heard.

    Shayna is a license graduate professional counselor committed to helping men and women learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves and others. Shayna has several years of experience working with trauma-involved populations experiencing anxiety and depression. Shayna’s clinical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

    Shayna believes in taking a collaborative approach to help her clients reach their goals. Aside from facilitating therapeutic sessions – Shayna enjoys journaling, working out, reading, a great movie, and cuddling with her dog Ace.

    Tiffany Eller is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) who is passionate about helping children and young adults. She is committed to helping guide adolescents and adults who struggle to find their path and face difficulties with life transitions.

    Tiffany graduated from Bowie State University in 2021. She completed her internship and practicum experience at BSU in Counseling Services helping college students. Tiffany has found using multiple approaches based on the client’s background and presenting difficulties is the best way to help each client. Some approaches used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques, and Art Therapy.
